Vic Spainhower – “Without having a trainer, I would not be where I am today”

“I’m 68 years old and I had open heart surgery 5 years ago (triple bypass) and it was do or die for me. I truly believe that if I had made some changes in my lifestyle 10 years ago, I could have prevented having to have surgery.

After my surgery, I started using a treadmill at home about 4 days a week but I found it boring and hard to continue to get motivated. I decided to try using a trainer at a gym and tried 24 hour fitness which was ok but when my trainer quit and I got a new trainer we didn’t connect, so I stopped going.

I now train at Better Body Fitness NW and I work out 3 days a week. My trainer makes the workouts fun and enjoyable while holding me accountable and working me a lot harder than I would ever do on my own. Without having a trainer, I would not be where I am today.

The numbers really speak for them self as to the improvement that I’ve made. When I started, I weight 167.7 lbs. and was at 23.75% body fat. I reached my goal weight of 150 lbs. and now have 16.5% body fat.

I have been working on getting stronger. My goal is to bench press my weight (150 lbs) 10 times. I’m not there yet (I can only do 3 times) but I’m confident that if I continue working with Nicole she will have me doing it. Recently, I started doing dead hang pull ups. I can currently do 10 consecutive pull ups and am now working towards 20.

Better Body Fitness NW is really a great place to work out.  It’s like a second family to me and I truly enjoy everyone there.”
